Enigma would like to say a massive well done to our 7-a-side football team, based at East Thames, for the competition they recently took part in.

Enigma were invited to take part in the charity tournament on Friday 2nd July by East Thames. All money raised would be going to support older people, people with learning disabilities and people living with mental health problems to overcome isolation and loneliness through sport and community activities.

We were asked to select a team name and the boys decided to pick Borussia Dortmund. Fittingly, the colours of Borussia matched those of Enigma so it was a good choice.

Aaron Lee, who works at West Ham Lane, was chosen to captain and put the team team together. However, he was not the only Enigma employee that was captain of a team. Enigma would also like to say well done to Glenn Begley, who also put a team together and whilst we wished them well, we were obviously rooting for Enigma's team to go all the way!

After winning each of their 5 games, the team sailed through to the final where they narrowly lost 1-0. It was an excellent team performance and a special mention goes to Aaron Lee, who captained the side.

This is Aaron's review of the experience in his own words:

Enigma was asked to assemble a football team to take part in an East Thames' organised charity tournament on Friday 2nd July. Dannie asked me if I would be captain of the team and I was more than happy to take on the responsibility. We assembled our team with the help of Sufi and also managed to get ourselves a shirt in time for the tournament. On the day of the tournament we learnt that we had to play 5 games in our group, and a 6th game depending on where we finished in our group. We managed to win all 5 of our games and top our group, by some way, scoring 10 goals and only conceding 1. Unfortunately when we got to the final we lost 1-0 to the winners who had previously won the tournament for the past 3 years.

As captain of the Enigma football team, I was proud of the way in which we conducted ourselves throughout the tournament and represented Enigma and I could not have asked for anymore from the players who were all brilliant and showed full commitment throughout.

Finally, I would like to thank Sufi for helping me to assemble the team, Nilpa, who was a big help in getting our shirts for us, and to our manager, Dannie who cheered us on during every game so much so that his voice went hoarse by the end of it. He went above and beyond to get us anything we needed and we are very grateful for his support.20150703 121147 edit
